I have an app on my phone that used to tell me how far along I was in my pregnancy. For 9.5 long months I would wake up every morning, hit the snooze button, and check to see how many days were left before we got to meet our baby girl. The "days left" number would usually elicit two different responses. The first brought on the feeling of "Seriously? That long? Geeze. I know I've been pregnant longer than that." I would eat 3 Tums, hit the snooze button again, roll over and try to sleep for 9 more glorious minutes. The second response was the exact opposite. The given number would be accompanied by a small panic attack and me creating some sort of list to complete before Caroline came. There were so many lists by the time the 9th month was over...and so many tasks that were never accomplished...
The same app now tells me how old Caroline is. As of today, May 30th, Caroline is 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day old. No panic attacks. No snooze buttons. Just love. Lots and lots of love for our little momma.
(Speaking of snooze buttons - it has been 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day since I've set my alarm clock. I wonder if I'll ever have to use one again!)
It's amazing what has happened in the past 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day...
Dear Caroline -
I can't believe how much you have grown in the past 1 month, 1 week and 1 day. You started off a tiny 7lbs, 12 oz and have grown into quite the little honey. You weighed 10lbs, 5 oz when I weighed you last Wednesday...which was a full pound heavier than the weigh in the week before! You love to eat and it shows all over your rolling thighs and second chin. You've even got the beginnings of rubber band wrists. I'm so proud! I tell you every time you eat that you need to eat well because your summer wardrobe will be so much cuter if you have fat thighs. I guess you are listening to your momma.
Your favorite new trick is holding up your head. You LOVE to show off this skill, especially when you are laying on your stomach. You can hold it up for a few minutes, then you take a break and try again. You also enjoy rolling over from your stomach to your back. You mainly do this when you are mad because you've been on your tummy for too long, but nonetheless, it still amazes us. You are such a strong little girl!
What started out as a suicide mission has turned into something you love - bath time. You love laying on your green frog and relaxing in the warm water. I'm convinced you spit up/poop on yourself so that you can take a bath more often. Either way, it makes me so happy to see you so happy...and you sleep much better after a little spa treatment.
You've almost outgrown all of your Newborn clothes. It made me tear up a little when I packed away some of your little pajamas. You're now wearing more 0-3 months outfits and more of the little dresses I wore when I was your age. Your Grammy was so sweet to save those dresses for you! You've got some really cute 3-6 months rompers, so keep eating.
I love you more and more each day. I thank God for you every night,
Mom
